TEKLITE Mains Fail Safety Lighting
Emergency
Lighting in buildings means the illumination of
exits, gangways and stairs. Now Teklite
illuminates the main area of congregation, the
place where the panic can start. Teklite
supplements and sometimes can replace other
forms of Emergency Lighting.
ACTIVATED BY MAINS FAILURE, FUSE BLOW OR SMOKE
ALARM
With
rapid warm-up, Teklite Mains Fail Safety Lamps give
up
to 6500 lumens of smoke penetrating light. Other
typical Emergency Lamps give 20 to 240 lumens.
With 25 times more light, Teklite Mains Fail Safety
Lamps
have an important place in your Emergency
Lighting System. |

IMPORTANT
Teklite
Mains Fail Safety Lamps provide a form of
Emergency Lighting until now not
realisable and therefore not yet demanded
by Regulation. They are not intended
to replace Statutory Emergency Lighting
except with the authority of the
Organisation issuing the the Fire
Certificate for the building.
However, the Area Lighting they provide is
welcomed by Fire Departments and Insurance
Companies alike, pending the eventual
possibility of new regulations making the
Area Lighting provided by this new class
of Emergency Lighting, mandatory.

Controls |
The
front panel is equipped with a
test switch. While the unit is
on stand-by, the switch should
be set to the 'ready'
position. The rear panel is
equipped with a transit switch
to prevent the unit running when
'no mains' is connected,
i.e. the mains fail relay will
detect 'no mains' if the unit is
not connected to the mains. For
normal operation, the
switch should be set to the
'normal' position.
Provision is also made for
remote test, or for connection
to smoke alarms - in which case
the mains fail safety
lamp may be remotely tested, or
triggered via a smoke alarm in
the event of a fire prior
to mains failure. |
|
Maintenance |
Teklite
Mains Fail Safety Lamps do not
contain serviceable parts. It is
only necessary to check (every
six months)
that the unit is operational.
Thus the test switch should be
operated, or the mains should be
interrupted - in which
case the second ampoule will
ignite. Provided it runs for 50
minutes, it can be assumed that
the batteries are in a
good condition. After
approximately 9 hours, the
yellow LED should extinguish and
the green LED should light
(indicating that the batteries
are again fully charged. |
